'Tis the season for new adventures, fa la la la la la la la la.
It's been quite a hectic week with gearing up for the holidays and preparing for the year to come to a close. 2016, you've been... strange. In this blog post, I would like to give a shout-out to two new organizations I've discovered in the last week. I'm a sucker for recommendations so I hope that you all will appreciate my new finds.
The first is the Charlotte Curling Association located right here in my favorite city.
"I didn't know we had a curling center?"
Neither did I. That is why I'm here to tell you about it.
My company was awesome enough to plan an outing for our office to learn to curl... and of course, enjoy some beer while doing it.
At first, I was a little hesitant. I've never even taken the time to watch curling so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.
To say this was some of the most fun I've had would be an understatement.
The staff was incredible. Very generous and eager to get to know us on a personal level. Plus they were so excited to share their love for curling with our team.
We laughed. We slipped. We fell on the ice. It was such a great time. And my team even won a game!
If you haven't tried curling or if you didn't even know this existed, I cannot recommend this enough. It's a great family environment, date night, or just some fun with friends. They are offering curling lessons during the month of January and I will certainly be back, showcasing my newly acquired curling skills.

My second organization I would like to put the spotlight on is called Clean Eatz located off of Ayrsley Town Blvd.
Eating healthy is a permanent struggle for some. While I do truly enjoy eating healthy, I find my biggest struggle to be planning meals and actually finding the time to cook. I'm an expert when it comes to grocery shopping--and buying incredibly too much food. I've tried the companies that send you ingredients. This certainly helped in exploring new recipes but it was hard to find the time to cook them.
Like a beautiful gift from the food gods, I saw a Facebook ad for a company called Clean Eatz. This was the answer to my problems.
1. These meals are made from "clean" foods. They emphasize that this is not a diet--everyone hates this word--it's about healthy living and fueling your body with appropriate resources. Their menu focuses on the following:
A. Low calories
B. Low fat
C. No sugar
D. No added sodium
E. Affordable
2. These meals are COOKED AND READY TO GO! Wow. Talk about a game changer. This is what I really needed. They're prepackaged and can be stored in your freezer for up to 6 months.
3. Their menu changes weekly. Sign-up for their emails to receive the upcoming menu. You can also stop in the store to check out the meals they have ready for purchase.
I purchased 9 meals at their store for less than $70 total. 9 meals?! That's equivalent to about 3.2 hours of work and probably $100+ at the grocery store.
It's so convenient for me to grab a meal while walking out the door for work. Plus, I no longer have an excuse to skip the gym after work if my dinner is already pre-made and waiting for me.
If you're looking to make a difference in your eating habits or if you're looking for an easier way to stay away from the fast food, definitely check out their website: http://cleaneatz.com/#home.
Now that I've encouraged you to be active and to eat healthy... let's prepare for the holiday feasts that are coming up. My life is a walking oxymoron. Hopefully my two recommendations will help us to make changes in the New Year to become more healthy.
Happy holidays, everyone! Stay happy and stay healthy.
